Eufy Smart Display E10 review: A visual home security panel

PCWorld

The Eufy Smart Display E10 is a fast, focused, and private way to manage your home security–provided you're living in Eufy's home security ecosystem. Smart displays aren't new, but Eufy's take on the category is a little different. Rather, it's a dedicated visual control panel for your Eufy-powered home security system, one that puts live video feeds, visitor alerts, and event summaries all in one place. Unlike an Echo Show or Nest Hub, it does it all without leaning on the cloud, serving up ads, or connecting to a server somewhere. The Eufy Smart Display E10 looks more like a small tablet than a security device.

The real win of AI PCs? Battery life

PCWorld

In 2022-2023, AI-powered PCs made quite a splash with their automatic generation and built-in virtual assistants. Those features are cool, sure, but they're a little gimmicky at first blush. That said, amid the hype, the real standout feature emerged: battery life. Thanks to smarter resource management and power-efficient chip architecture, AI PCs became long-lasting devices that didn't need to be plugged in all the time. Let's take flying cross-country with a traditional laptop, for instance.

The best PC hardware and software of 2024/2025

PCWorld

It was most evident in laptops: Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite chips kicked off Microsoft's Copilot PC era with long life and surprisingly competitive performance, only to be rivaled by Intel's Macbook-killing Lunar Lake chips months later. AMD, meanwhile, focused on bringing high-octane speed to Copilot PCs, zigging for oomph while the others zagged to endurance. With competition flourishing, PCWorld expects to review over 120 laptops by the end of the year, by far a new high water mark! This year, cutting-edge monitors became the norm, Thunderbolt docks and SSDs embraced newer, faster standards, Intel and AMD launched overhauled desktop CPUs, gaming handhelds got truly competitive, and the software that runs on all that hardware kept getting better and better, too. With such a gluttony of choice, it became harder than ever for PC hardware and software to impress us. Few products earned our rare Editors' Choice award.

Microsoft Surface and Copilot Event: Everything announced including new Surface laptops, Copilot PC and more

Engadget

Microsoft just couldn't wait until its Build developer conference properly starts tomorrow to drop some knowledge bombs. The company held a pre-Build event on Monday that wasn't livestreamed for the public, but it made some major announcements on the AI and Surface fronts. Its vision for so-called AI PCs is taking shape with Copilot PCs, which are designed to run many generative AI processes locally instead of in the cloud. Along with its own Surface systems that will adopt this format, several other manufacturers are making Copilot PCs too. The big news coming out of this event is Microsoft's vision for AI-centric PCs.

Elon Musk says Tesla's 'Optimus' robot could one day outsell its cars

The Independent - Tech

Elon Musk has described Tesla's humanoid robot as the most important product it is developing in 2022, with the potential to be "more significant" than the company's car business. The as-yet unreleased Optimus robot is being built to serve as a general purpose robot, though early versions will have more limited factory-based applications. Mr Musk said during an earnings call on Wednesday that a working prototype of the Tesla bot will be unveiled at some point this year. The world's most valuable auto manufacturer is designing Optimus in a humanoid form in order for it to carry out everyday human tasks, such as shopping in a supermarket. "Essentially in the future, physical work will be a choice. If you want to do it you can, but you won't need to do it," Mr Musk said during the Tesla AI Day last August.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk's next big bet rides on better batteries

The Japan Times

SAN RAMON, California – Tesla is working on new battery technology that CEO Elon Musk says will enable the company within the next three years to make sleeker, more affordable cars that can travel dramatically longer distances on a single charge. But the battery breakthroughs that Musk unveiled Tuesday at a highly anticipated event didn't impress investors. They were hoping Tesla's technology would mark an even bigger leap forward and propel the company's soaring stock to even greater heights. Tesla's shares shed more than 6 percent in extended trading after Musk's presentation. That deepened a downturn that began during Tuesday's regular trading session as investors began to brace for a potential letdown.
